Items checked out to an individual ID/Library card remain the responsibility of the person named on that card. Library items should be returned by the due date, complete and in good condition without evidence of added defacement, mutilation or water damage. All library books or DVD's may be returned to the Main Circulation Desk during library hours or at any time by way of the outside book drop located in the brick wall to the right of the library’s main entrance. UNCSA Library does not charge accruable “overdue fines”, but we do add a $10 non-refundable billing charge to any overdue or damaged item that is consequently billed.
All current UNCSA faculty, staff, and students are eligible to borrow library materials from the library and must present their official school ID (the One Card) each time they do so; no other identification is accepted for checkout. Restrictions do apply (see Loan Periods at right). Emeritus Faculty members enjoy the same privileges as current faculty/staff members. UNCSA members may also borrow library materials from UNC Co-Op libraries and Triad area TALA libraries, per cooperative borrowing agreements among these libraries.

If an item that you need is checked out, you may place a hold on that particular copy or on a copy of that title returned soonest by making the request at the Main Circulation Desk. Once the item is returned, an email will be sent to you and the item will be held for one week at the Main Circulation Desk. If you do not pick it up, the item will be re-shelved.
A recall is a procedure initiated by the library when one patron needs access to material checked out to another patron. Normal check-out periods are 4 and 8 weeks for students and faculty/staff respectively. However a recall can be issued after a minimum of 2 weeks, and the patron then has 1 week to get the item back to the Circulation Desk. The exception to this rule is if a faculty member needs the material for Reserve. In that case, the material must be returned without delay. In either case, if the item is not returned as required by Recall policy, the patron record can be frozen until the item is returned.
To request a Hold or a Recall, please visit the Main Circulation Desk.
