The Triad Academic Library Association (TALA)

The Triad Academic Library Association (TALA), to which UNCSA’s Library belongs, is a near aggregate of the academic libraries in our area formed to provide timely access to library materials at all member institutions. Students, faculty and staff, whose institutions belong to TALA, may borrow materials in person from all other association institutions through registration with appropriate identification. Each library has determined its own rules and privileges, but a current photo ID is a minimum requirement of all the participating libraries.

For UNCSA borrowers, to save you time and trouble, check the TALA Lending Privileges & Library Addresses prior to your visit to determine the limitations and requirements in place at the various TALA libraries. For instance, UNCSA Library requires members coming here to present valid school identification and a picture ID (ours is one and the same), as well as evidence of current enrollment or employment at the member school (for us, accessing an email account is the quickest route). Go to the Access Services/Circulation Desk area of whatever library you choose and be prepared to present all required information in order to register; you may be asked to access your UNCSA library record to prove you are in good standing. If so, you will need to know your 8-digit school ID number. All borrowed items must be returned to the lending library by you, on time and in good condition. You are responsible for any fines or charges meted out to you by TALA libraries.

Public Patrons

North Carolina residents who want to register at the UNCSA Library as a Public Patron must report to the One Card Office. ID cards are only available Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The One Card Office will require a picture ID and a one-time $15 card fee. Once registered, the Public Patron may return to the UNCSA Library to register their One Card.  Public Patrons are allowed to checkout 5 books at a time with a 4-week loan period.

Note: The Alumni Office no longer covers the registration fee for UNCSA alumnae.  Alumnae will have to register as a Public Patron.
