Check your account type
Check the top right-hand corner of your NYT browser. If this reads "Account," select the down arrow to the right of "Account:"
This will pop-up a side bar on the right that should show both your UNCSA email address and your subscription type as "News - Group Access."
If you're signed in with a different (non-UNCSA) email address, scroll down to "Log out" and create a new, UNCSA-affiliated account following the steps in this guide under Setting up your account.
If the side bar shows your UNCSA email address but does not show the account type as "News - Group Access" there was an error in the initial set up of the account and you will need to delete the account before attempting to re-set up an affiliated account. To do this, select "Account settings" on this sidebar, scroll down to "Delete your account" at the very bottom, and follow the prompts. Once your account is deleted, clear your browser history and cache before following the steps in this guide under Setting up your account.
Make sure you're signed in
If the top right hand corner reads "Log In," and you believe you've previously set up a UNCSA-account, enter your UNCSA-email address and click "Continue."
DO NOT click "Continue with work or school single sign-on." UNCSA does NOT use single sign-on to authenticate our NYT accounts.
If you next see the following "Log in to your account" screen, good news: you have an associated account set-up. Enter your password if you know it, or follow the "Forgot your password?" prompts to reset your password.
If you instead see the following "Create your free account" page, please do not proceed from this screen, but instead follow the instructions in this guide under Setting up your account.
"Your email address is not eligible."
You may encounter this error message if you're already signed into the NYT with another non-UNCSA email address, or using a Chrome browser associated with another non-UNCSA email address. Try visiting your NYT account page to sign out of your account, and/or setting up your account using a different browser.
