In the MakerSpace, UNCSA students can access tools and learn new skills to create for their own purposes outside of the classroom. Projects may only use perishable materials and must be for non-profit purposes. You must have a reservation to use the MakerSpace, but walk-ins may be accommodated if time allows.
The MakerSpace is a student-run creative lab and our facilitators have required course work, so please be aware the space is open limited hours based on facilitator availability and appointments may be cancelled based on changes in class scheduling. This space is intended for students only- faculty or staff interested in using our equipment must email the Makerspace to see if there is availability.

Before Your Visit
- Review the "Our Equipment" webpage for important information on the pieces of equipment we host in the space.
- Fill out the MakerSpace waiver. The waiver include agreements for general MakerSpace rules and only needs to be filled out once per academic year.
- Reserve a timeslot for the equipment you want to use.
- If you don't know which tool is best for your project, or if you just want to learn more about what is available in our space, please book a General Visit.
During Your Visit
- Be on time.
- Make sure any materials you may be bringing are ready to go.
- Safety First!
- Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- We do not permit the use of spray paint in our space.
- No loose hair or clothing when working with power tools.
- Use only the tools you know how to use — get instruction for those you don't.
- Report broken equipment.
- Keep a positive attitude; be courteous and respectful of the space and other makers.
- Keep the space clean and clean up after yourself.
- Ask for help with anything!
