Sheet Music Collection

The Music Library boasts a collection of over 20,000 pieces of sheet music. Our collection is housed in vertical shelving units, arranged first by instrumental ensemble size, from solo to octet and chamber music, and then vocal music. Within each of those categories, the contents are arranged alphabetically by composer and then by work title. Outlines of the contents of each row of shelving units (called "ranges") are posted at the end of each range. The catalog record for a piece of music will tell you where to find it after the word Available in green.

Each piece of music is housed in a yellow (manila) folder within a grey folder. The grey folders are snapped together and should be difficult to remove, by design. Remember: Grey stays!! To check out a piece of music, please remove the yellow folder containing the music, leaving the grey folder behind, and bring it to the Music Library Help Desk. If no one is at the desk, call (336) 770-3267 to ask someone to come to help you check out.

Please return sheet music to the box at the Music Library Help Desk.
