The Music Library, located on the upper level of the library, includes music reference books and scores, music periodicals, over 50,000 circulating scores, and 42,000 sound recordings. (Books about music are shelved on the main floor of the library.)
Come to the Music Library to:
- borrow, return, or renew music library materials
- request a sound recording to listen to in the Music Library or to check out (sound recordings are kept in closed stacks)
- access Music Reserve items (including iPods and streaming audio)
- request / pick-up a music Interlibrary Loan
- ask a question about music
The Music Library Circulation Desk is staffed all hours the library is open.
- Music scores in the Vertical File collection may be borrowed for 8 weeks.
- Music scores (M classification) and study scores may be borrowed for 4 weeks.
- Books about music may be borrowed for 4 weeks.
- Renewals may be accomplished online or by bringing items to the Music Circulation Desk.
- Sound recordings may be borrowed by high school and undergraduate students for 1 week (limit 2 items); sound recordings may be borrowed by graduate students may borrow sound recordings for 4 weeks (limit 10 items).
- Renewals may be accomplished online or by bringing items to the Music Circulation Desk.
Listening stations in the Music Library include CD players and turntables. Computers are available in the Music Library to access the Millennium catalog, music research databases, and the Internet. Several computers are also available primarily for streaming audio Music Reserves.
